The 6602-001655 is the genuine OEM drive belt for Samsung electric and gas dryers. The drive belt wraps around the drum, idler pulley, and motor pulley to transfer rotation from the motor to the drum. When the belt breaks or stretches, the drum stops turning entirely — the motor runs, the dryer heats, but clothes sit stationary. A worn belt may also produce a squealing or thumping noise before it breaks. This 92-inch, 5-rib belt is a direct OEM replacement that restores full drum rotation and quiet operation.

The 6602-001655 belt measures 92 inches in length with a 5-rib profile. It supersedes 6602-001314, which was the previous OEM part number for the same belt. The belt is made from reinforced rubber with a ribbed inner surface that grips the motor pulley and idler pulley without slipping. Belt failure is one of the most common Samsung dryer repairs — when the belt snaps, the drum stops immediately and the dryer runs silently with no tumbling. Always inspect the idler pulley and drum support rollers when replacing the belt, as worn pulleys and rollers accelerate belt wear.

Disconnect power before beginning this repair. Repair difficulty: 3/5. Estimated time: 30–60 minutes. To access the belt: remove the top panel, front panel, and drum. The old belt will be broken or lying loose inside the cabinet. Route the new belt around the drum (ribbed side against the drum), then thread it under the idler pulley and around the motor pulley in a zigzag pattern. The idler pulley spring provides tension — ensure it is properly seated before reassembling. Tip: While the drum is out, inspect the drum support rollers and idler pulley for wear. Replacing worn rollers and the idler pulley at the same time as the belt prevents a repeat repair within months.

Should I replace the idler pulley and rollers at the same time? Strongly recommended. If the belt has broken due to age, the idler pulley and drum support rollers are likely worn as well.
